On my recent visit to Vorarlberg I met with old varsity friends for lunch and one of them booked a table for us at the Stadtgasthaus. I remembered it as the Weisses Kreuz and the food was as good as in the old days. Friendly and attentive service and a nice atmosphere.
we had lunch today at stadtgasthaus and it has been really nice surprise. very good quality and good service. ambience is very classy and old fashion will recomend for a business lunch.
Had a conference drinks party organised here and it's truly an impressive structure to view and enjoy. Worth passing by if in Bregenz.
We chose this restaurant for our only evening in Bregenz, after rejecting places that had better rankings on Tripadvisor (looking closer at details and reviews of those places made us suspicious.) It was the right choice! The taste of the coconut-lime soup was delicious (although not quite creme style, as announced.) My main dish, recommended by the very friendly waiter, was calf liver with roesti (Swiss-Austrian style of fried potatoes.) A must for all lovers of this dish.
Excellent food and service, definitely the best of restaurants which we visited in Bregenz. Prices are however above average, you should be prepared for at least 100 euro per 2 with little drinks.
We had an amazing three courses lunch for less than 20€. It is delicate food prepared with a lot of thoughts. We would go back.
I had dinner with a friend in restaurant Weisses Kreuz during a recent visit of Bregenz while on a trip on the Swiss side of the lake and we had better skipped dinner here. While my pumpkin soup (more water than pumpkin) and deer ragout had still made 3 stars, my friend's 4 course menu was, with the exception of the raw tuna starter, a disappointment. The main course, filet of beef was uneatable, as not even the knife could cut through it. Service was fine until they noticed that we were not satisfied with the meal and then decided to ignore us as much as only possible. The dessert that they offered me in return for my friend's uneatable main course did not save the evening. The check amounted to 150 euro which was the worst quality/price ratio I have seen in a very long time.
I've been there many times already and chef Harald Fink's creations never disappoint. On warm days the terrace, facing away from the street, is a great place to relax and indulge in the food and drinks on offer. The business lunch changes frequently and is an excellent deal, probably the best you'd get for that price in town.
