Staying at the Marques de Riscal Gehry hotel. Decided to walk to the town and experience real local inexpensive cuisine. Started the afternoon at this tiny place. The owner was very welcoming and offered local wine tastings for 1 EUR per glass. She explained every wine, the region, the grapes and invited us to olives and other delicacies.
Visiting as part of a walking trek of Rioja. Can't understand the previous reviewer. Interesting, varied and flavourful food, in a local taberna menu del dia very good value, and including Riojan dishes such as chickpea stew with cod, Rioja potatoes and cuttlefishwith garlic. Staff were excellent, engaging and helpful.
We ate twice at this great local taverna during our week in Elciego. It was full of local people both times. All 3 of us are veggie so we're used to a limited fare in Spain, but both times we got a good meal of various tapas. It did help that one of us speaks Spanish, but I think you'd manage fine with English.
Local tavern with tapas. Service good but had to ask several times for the bill. Good selection of tapas. Very much a local eatery with fairly limited choices. Probably more on offer in LaGuardia.
