801 Chophouse At The Paxton

Holy smokes folks. Omaha... Omaha... SET! Hut, hut. Get to 801 if you 're in town. Kept it simple, 14 ounce New York (wet aged). Temperature was perfect medium rare plus. Seasoned perfectly. Light char. The surprise happiness arrived from a baked creamed spinach side. Wowzer. Ingredients: Grated Parmigiana cheese topper, finished under the broiler, soft and crispy amazingness. For the spinach goo, add flavors of Anissete Liqueur, Fennel Seed, definitely has fresh Garlic somewhere, a little salt and pepper. Diced Shallots. Then add the cream, which was reduced significantly (not a sloppy mess like most you 'll have). I 'm on the fence if this is the best creamed spinach I 've ever had. Pappas Bros. in Texas a close second or maybe first. Service was outstanding. Senor Rick was amazing at the bar. I had the don 't put baby in the corner bar seat and happy to have it. Run don 't walk to the 801 Omaha. Tell Rick Del Mar Dave from LA sent you. Sorry about the Mens Room pic but the bathrooms were spotless. Another old school move ice in the urinals.

Overall a good experience. We have been going for years and is one of the places to look forward to. Will say the quality of the food has declined a bit this past year. They have offered better cuts of meat at considerably high prices. The quality of the regular steaks were not as good as in the past so not sure if this was an indirect price hike where you have to take the upsell to maintain the same quality of beef. The range of appetizers have also dropped. There used to be so many sharable bites to open up a gluttonous meal. Every year, we seem to lose one option. Still a good steak and fun environment.

This place is amazing and should be experienced by everyone at least once. I can't think of one complaint and the food was outstanding!
