The overriding feeling in this place is one of complacency. We were barely acknowledged on arrival with male staff chatting amongst themselves. One young lady who was lovely eventually acknowledged us. The food was ok but nothing more than bog standard fare. Some of it was ridiculously overpriced. One wafer thin slice of salmon measuring about 5 inches on an equally thin piece of bread was serves as a starter and cost £10 inc service. It was gone in 3 bites! A small portion of veg, which should really be included with the main course cost and extra £6. The ingredients probably cost less than 50p. Excluding them from main courses and obliging you to order them separately is just a money making exercise. Shame! There are so many better places in Wimbledon and this one is only for the gullible or clueless I’m afraid.
Such a fantastic evening at Al Forno last night. My friend and I have always enjoyed coming to Al Forno and were worried as the last few times, the food did not hit the same level of quality we would always find in their food. Last night changed that for us completely. Our pasta was absolutely delicious and the pizza garlic bread was a fabulous starter. I had the spaghetti carbonara and my friend had the Fregola al Frutti di mare and we both agreed it was the best pasta we had in a long time. To top it off, we had a lovely conversation with Pietro, one of the servers. He told us about his life coming to England and his dream of opening a restaurant which made for a great end to our evening. For those looking for a good meal and wonderful service, you should give Al Forno a shot!
Had a great night. The food was very good and the service excellent. This was a tribute night with Ray Lowe who was superb on vocals who sang all the rat pack songs and lots of Christmas songs as well. It was such a fun evening and it look like everyone was have a great time. Thanks Fabio and your team for making it a night to remember
We visit al forno many years ago and still happy to find the same atmosphere and quality. The food was amazing, REAL Italian pizza and flair you can’t find better in town. Grazie della serata
