When you come across a new venue and they tell you they provide Vegan options, you would expect a chef to consider what a Vegan is, a person who absolutely will not consume nor utilise animals or animal products; when it comes to dining, you would also expect a chef to be aware that said Vegan is looking for a dining experience . So when they say yes to the question, do they provide Vegan options, the dining experience provided for Vegans is expected. Well, that 's not the case here. I found all of one substantial vegan option which was potatoes with Mediterranean vegetables. And err, well, err, that was it! Pathetic. However that said, the dish was absolutely delicious and the service was very friendly. But come on, allow for some education here... A dining experience should be at least, minimum, 2 starter options, 2 main course and 2 deserts, all Vegan if you say you provide Vegan options. So stop mucking about and furthermore, when you say you do but only provide all of one substantial option, you are in fact insulting your guest, who is paying good money as these prices were not the cheapest. When you go to restaurant and realise there 's more Vegan options at McDonald 's and Burger King, you realise the management and chef have, well, failed to locate anything in the way of insight and vision. Altwernigeroder Kartoffelhaus is a nice and cosy venue I have to give it that and as I said the service was friendly. However, even that said, the second time I went there we had a waiter, where as the language barrier both German English was such, that we couldn 't seem to ask him anything, asking twice for cutlery is a bit of a joke in an eatery establishment. Nice place, but if you say you provide for a certain diet, then do so, don 't take the mick, it 's far from funny when you 're the one sat there and unlike everyone else, through no fault of one 's own, is having less than a third of the dining experience than everyone else. It alienates the customer and it 's frankly unfair!

Dieses Restaurant befindet sich in einer wunderschönen Lage und einem wunderschönen Gebäude. Die Speisekarte ist sehr abwechslungsreich mit deutschen und lokalen Gerichten. Ich habe das Tagesgericht, das ein sehr kleines Steak und ein etwas größeres Kalbssteak war. Das Steak war so hart, dass ich es fast nicht essen konnte. Die Kälber waren köstlich. Aber die Ofenkartoffel war die beste. Meine Frau hatte ein griechisches Gericht, das gut war, aber das Fleisch war zu gut.

I liked the idea of eating here, as it seemed authentic German. But even though everything was potato-based, it was just not that good. I ordered salmon coming with vegetables and potatoes. The salmon had a very strange taste and the vegetables were so overcooked that they were super soggy. The potato was delicious! Service was good. Sometimes I wonder if people think a place should be good and they rate it high, but I just didn't see what it was all about the Hubbub.

This is a potato house, but fortunately they also serve meat. It looks like an authentic German mountain restaurant, but I suspect that the interior is all a facade. It is pleasant enough and funny, but do not expect a sharp kitchen. I had a pork dish with spicy sauce with potato dumplings. Everything perfectly edible and fillable, but not especially unforgettable. However with a few beers and good company in the evening was successfully helped by the chatty staff.

The food was ok compared to the prize a bit on the dry side. But the service was terrible regarding the waiters.
