The first time at AMP. Long jazz lovers, mostly in NYC clubs. For the DC area this is a good choice if you have a bit of space, beautiful atmosphere, and each seat has a decent view as the stage is increased. compared to NYC icons we love, but are cramped, very dark, and no 'social distancing', so in these days, AMP is a welcome alternative). We had row seats, but next time we would take table seats for a big reason: you cannot eat in the row area. There is no place to do something, much to our misfortune, as we planned before the show to eat there. I wish I could come to the menu as it looks good. Also the seats are too tight. Ticket prices $25 $45) are very reasonable for what you receive and support the art. It seemed like a waitress for the whole room. Can't pay with her or the bar, so be ready. Some older males occasionally had a hard time with the wage system they used. As for the jazz show, the trio Loston Harris) was very good, but the room is almost too big for a trio. His music and band size is best for an intimate space like the Carlyle Hotel where he plays in NYC. That said he did a good show, very entertaining. The sound system can sometimes overwhelm the sax. The room has large windows, a beautiful aesthetic and a bar area from the room as you first come. Since the bar is separated from the exhibition room, you do not hear a bar/kitchen noise during the show. Parking in the building is easy. The staff was very pleasant. Will gladly return.
