Au pique assiette

A bright modern clean carefully designed restaurant. Tables not too close together. Choice of inside or outside on the terrace. Menu had lots of choice. We were provided with lots of ice cold water which was greatly appreciated. We went twice. The first night the smoked duck salad starter was particularly good and the duck seemed homemade and the smoke flavour very very impressive. The second night we ordered it because of how good it was the first night and what arrived was we think your run of the mill off the shelf mass produced duck which was almost tasteless. However the salad was good and had lovely citrus components.We also had oysters which were excellent.We had a wonderful beef dish main the first night with glazed carrots and other fabulous vegetables and a dish of roasted sea bass. The second night steak and chips. The steak was chewy but okay for the price. Not a lot of taste but cooked well. The chips homemade and tasted good. However our favourite dish overall was the beef special the previous evening which we think was outstanding.The desserts were panna cotta and ice creams both were good.We liked this place and we found it good value and consistently good on the two nights we dined there while we were in the area.

This restaurant was just along the street from our hotel, and we decided to go one evening, to save walking into town. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The food was also very good, with the confit de canard being really excellent and the dourade was also excellent. We just turned up on spec, and got a table with a bit of foot traffic nearby, which was fine. Well worth a visit.

This is a popular restaurant for good reason, the food is good! We had salads and mains, the assiette salad was enormous and full of tasty treats. The service excellent, surprising considering how many people one waitress could manage. Would happily dine here again given our time again.

Great service. English is also well spoken by the staff. The food is all homemade & delicious! Would definitely go back
