We have eaten lunch here once a year for the past 7 years. The setting is delightful you feel as if you are in deepest countryside although it is only 5 minutes from Marseillan, and 5 minutes from Meze. The two dining rooms are large and furnished with an old fashioned charm with a huge fireplace in each where the ducks, or geese, or gigot lamb are cooked and basted in front of the open fire. The menu is always similar but reflects somewhat the seasons, although I can only recommend going when the weather is cold since the meal is huge substantial starter, followed by another substantial starter (ie stuffed mussels, ragout of mussels and squid, salad of chicken livers, puff pastry containing mushrooms or leeks and duck etc. Normally a choice of 3 meats from the fireplace plus an alternative cassoulet or civet de lievre or beef casserole. After that, profiteroles a la maison (huge and delicious) or a fruit tart. The wines come from the Domaine and are at cost price. It is a great place to go to with a group of friends since all the main courses are served on help yourself platters for sharing with your friends, and it is not so much fun with a table for 2. Book well in advance since it is very popular and only open at weekends out of season. It is a yearly treat for us do not eat breakfast on the day that you lunch there!
