We went for dinner at Auberge du Vieux Fermier in October 2016.The restaurant (with rooms above it) is house in a 17th century building beautifully renovated. There are two main rooms, which one could describe as the kitchen more intimate with a large working fireplace ; the "living room" more imposing. There's also the bistro which is very modern. Service was attentive if a bit slow. The owner, one of the chef, greated our table and proceeded to inform us about the - long - list of items available in addition to the menu. The menu is large and focus on local cuisine, mkre traditional than modern which is fitting with the surrounding. For appetizers, we tried the excellent Lucullus (local speciality of foie gras and smoked beef) ; crispy pig ears; tasty beef bone marrow; lobster salad well cooked ; cheese pie. The biggest hits in our mains was the piglet and the huge soles. The duck leg was flavourful and as large as a chicken leg! Desserts were tempting although we were fed by now. In any case do try the profiteroles and waffles with chocolate. All in all the food was excellent and portions generous. The wine selection was large and rather reasonably priced. It's an easy highly recommended, suitable for a special occasion.

The restaurant was decorated in the same style as the hotel, with a wood burning oven. The meals were traditional and cooked to perfection. The hotel owner would personally come and discuss the menu telling you everything you needed to know - it all seemed wonderful and it was hard to choose. Highly recommended was roast suckling piglet- which my partner had twice as he thought it was fabulous. This restaurant is very busy and a reservation is advised to avoid disappointment - a discerning range of wines are available to accompany meals. My partner prefers red wine and I like rose therefore it was a breath of fresh air to be able to choose a 50cl bottle of what we wanted. Locals eat at this restaurant which is it's highest recommendation.

Set in beautiful old building we were looking forward to some good French cuisine but were both very disappointed by the quality. My main course was virtually inedible and served with just a massive pile of awful chips. Staff didn't even try to find out why I'd not eaten anything. My husband's meal, although edible certainly was not of a high standard, and then we were brought the wrong dessert. The waiter banged into my chair every time he went past our table and totally ignored my request for a second glass of wine.

Very quaint restaurant interior - inside with cobble stones and benches that are covered with the fleur de lys, knight's armours and wall coverings.Very good food - I had spring cod, my husband the spit-roast piglet and my son the duck - all three dishes were delicious. The waiter spoke English and gave helpful explanations for some of the dishes. The have a good wine list, also by the glass. It is quite an expensive restaurant but well worth it.
