We were directed here by another restaurant nearby in Pessan, which was fully booked. We followed a long winding country road and finally came upon this gem. We were greeted by a small friendly dog, which much enjoyed the attention of my dog loving son and his fiancee. There was only a single 3 course menu item at lunchtime (it may be different in high season) but it was fine for all of us but would have been a problem for a vegetarian. The food was excellent in quality, preparation and quantity, at a very reasonable cost. Including wine and coffee, we paid about €20 per head. The older members of staff (the owners, probably) were very friendly and efficient, but a young waitress was obviously new to the job. The terrace was shady and cool and overlooked the main street, but this is a little country town, so it was not busy at all. When one car drove by, the dog ran to the road and barked for the first and only time; I can only assume the driver had left a bad review on TripAdviser! This Auberge is to be really recommended for a real taste of rural France at its best.
