The hotel is located a 10-minute walk away from the train station. The train station is right in the city. The room was clean and quiet. You can leave the sign Please clean the room hanging on the door handle if you want the room to be cleaned and tidied up every day. My double room had a large terrace where smoking is allowed. It had a private bathroom and a large double bed. The restaurant exceeded expectations! It was beautifully arranged, with a wonderful view and professional waiters. You will enjoy some extraordinary specialties here! On different days, I ordered a salad with an amazing dressing, cordon bleu, and roasted duck with french fries. All the dishes were incredibly good. Additionally, they serve a very delicious homemade butter on the house. I also had a large mug of excellent beer and a very good dessert (vanilla ice cream). Smoking is not allowed in the restaurant/hotel. The only downside of the hotel was the Wi-Fi, which was quite weak. The entire staff was very professional and will provide you with all the details you need, from the cleaning lady to the waiters and the receptionist. A perfect score! The hotel is open 24/7, and in case you know you 'll arrive late, you can take the room key with you or leave it at the reception from the beginning.
Really nice and relaxed restaurant (connected to a hotel). We had Fondue Chinoise, which was very tasty and with fresh fruits and vegetables to go with the meat. We also liked the Nüsslisalat, we had as a starter. The dishes are all quite typical Swiss Alp kitchen. Good choice of wines and digestives. Friendly and attentive staff. Interiors cool and cosy in modern Swiss Alp style. It looks like the restaurant is far from the village center, but it is actually quite close, a nice 15-20 minutes walk from the village center. Book a window table in the ‘atrium’ to get the best view of the village.
We were having Silvester Menu in this restaurant. We decided to take chinese fondue which means meat fondue... . To start we had sallad which was very good. And then we had fondue, meat was brought to table. All else was buffet style choose and pick. Winelist is wide and good. I think price was a bit over: 78 CHF person plus wines... . Ok I understand that it was New Years eve, but I found this concept a bit pricy. Restaurant was divided into two areas one with orchestra +20CHF person and another. Quite interesting... but if you like swiss traditional music that 's ok!
We stayed in Engelberg several days and this was certainly the best of our restaurant experiences. In fact we returned for a second visit. Wonderful view over the town and valley, not to mention of the surrounding peaks, particularly enchanting as the lights of the town come on as the evening progresses. Great friendly and efficient service. The trout meunière was fantastic. The Wienerschnitzel was better than that which we had in Vienna. Overall very much recommended.
