Small bar restaurant with outside tables in a small square away from the main roads thru the town yet only one road back from the river, worth finding. the three course lunch, with all the local favourites of gesier salad(or other choices of salad), duck confit and sarladaise potatoes, followed by the piece de resistance of walnut tart. The difference from all the others offering similar options was both the home made aspect, and if hungary, the size. At e17 cheap for the quality. Add to this charming service. My tip stick to one or two courses unless hungary. A good option is the gesier salad and have a side helping of the local potatoes or chips! The walnut tart is a must whatever you have, perhaps with morning coffee!

There's more to the Périgord than Foie Gras. There's hospitality, scenery and history. When you are doing the tourist route you often want something simpler at lunch time than the traditional French noontime feast. Le Festival is a great place to stop. When other restaurants in Montignac were turning us away for wanting to eat on a Monday afternoon, Le Festival sat us down on a terrace overlooking a quaint square, and had a menu including salads, snacks, and other light dishes as well as a well rounded selection of Périgord delicacies. Service was prompt and friendly, and the prices reasonable. All in all a memorable experience.
