I and my family have been visiting the Costa Brava, Palafrugel, and Pinguins for over years. This cafe has long been our favourite stop for coffee on any visit to Palafrugel and particularly after the market on Sundays. The service was as efficient and...professional as you could ever expect from the finest waiters in Spain. Nowadays, forget it. The waiters are slow, inattentive, and not interested in you. You can sit outside on a moderately busy Sunday (like today), and you won’t get served. Today we lost patience after minutes. What was once a local institution, is ruined. It’s all too much effort for them. It’s a wonder they’re still in business. By contrast, sit outside any of the other cafes as we have just done, and our table had been cleared and order taken before we were even able to sit down. Sorry Pinguins, if you’re not interested in me then I’m not interested in you either. It’s been years since your service was as expected. Now it’s too much effort for you, and too much effort for me as well. Adios
soon a waiter arrived, told us to move because the table was too big for both of us. moved to a side table of several smokers when there were many tables free. the service was perfunctory. After we arrived, two couples went to the table, we had to clear and move to another of the same size and were not asked to move. they wonder when it is because we are not native. I put a picture of the empty tables, of which we were moved. two roasted baguette ordered. both were nice.
Came in for market day ... and decided to eat in the square for breakfast .. it was still quiet and we waited for ages to be served .. when we were .. they forgot some if the order .. we asked twice and it...still didn't come ... we ended up getting up and leaving .. we were sure that we were ignored because we were not locals as we watched others being served before us .. won't be back .. don't recommend
Nice little restaurant which looks a bit like a snack bar. It’s popular place on the corner of the town square. Friendly people, but only Spanish is spoken. There were some vegetarian options and one vegan salad.
