Barbakan Delicatessen

My friend and I sat outside and enjoyed an excellent bacon bap We decided to buy items from the deli. Everything looked so appetising. I purchased a 4pk of poppy seed rolls, as I love Polish Makowiec and anything with poppy seeds. I have to say I felt very let down by them as they tasted bland and the dough was awful, have had nicer elsewhere. My friend purchased Polish bread, when she arrived home the other side of Manchester) and had a slice, she was shocked as to how stale it was. Unbelievable for such a well established bakery to slip in a stale bread for a customer, should not be allowed. The other thing that needs addressing is the customer service from an elderly blonde lady with glasses, she was not very pleasant, had no personality and was not very engaging, very abrupt. It wasn’t that busy but she seemed to just want to serve me quick, take my money and move on to next customer. I wanted to ask about a certain salad but I felt i was imposing on her. Overall I will not be back in a hurry as there are better deli’s around with excellent customer service, and staff that are pleased to see you and want your custom.

I have visited the Barbican for almost 50 years I live miles away but would love to shop there more often I buy a months supply of bread, bagels(THE BEST EVER) they all freeze very well , and other products every visit. I’ve never been disappointed. Yes sometimes you queue but staff are super fast friendly and very helpful..Artisan bread is expensive wherever you purchase it but here you get what you pay for. As to the customer who complained about the French stick! ! Original French stick contains no oils it is meant to be eaten the same day not kept.If it lasts it’s not a proper French stick. Hope that helps..

I have been told many a time about how good the food is here so I paid them a visit the reviews are great so they should be I ordered a hot dog and a piece of freshly made quiche wow the quiche alone was worth a visit all the staff were exerrlent and helpful can't wait to go back well done

As a treat for being a good boy.. My good lady took me here for a bite to eat. Superb bread! Great coffee. very busy place and can see why. A must visit if you are in the area.

Nothing special. Pre made sandwiches. Just warmed up. Won't be going again. Expensive for what you get in cardboard packaging .
