A lot of money has obviously been spent on restoring this massive old farmhouse as a hostal rural. It is situated at a height so on the night when we dined there, there was a very stiff wind. For some reason or other there outdoor dining area is on a patio which is completely exposed to the wind. This is despite the fact that they have various walled areas which would be well protected and which would much better suit outdoor dining at this location. The wind was so strong that it was too cold and unpleasant to eat there. We ate indoors. The food is very good. I ordered lamb and the portion was quite small. What was disappointing about it was that the place was full of very young children who were quite noisy in the dining room and it certainly did not make for a pleasant or romantic dining experience.
A delightful hotel to stay at. The setting is very rural and enjoys an area of peace and tranquility. All rooms are good, the top of the range bedrooms being extra special. Beautiful swimming pool and relaxing area. Very good breakfast and if you choose to dine here in the evening a more than adequate menu to choose from. The village of Migjorn Gran is twenty minutes walk away, although a car is recommended. Staff are beyond compare, from the manager Andreas all the way through to the cleaning ladies. Binigaus Vell has become a very popular place to stay and it is easy to see why. Book early !
We stayed at the hotel and ate in the restaurant 3 times. Although the menu does not change we found enough choice on it and ate delicious food on every occasion. Eating on the terrace outside under the pine trees the stuff of dreams !
A beautiful site, not that these impressive ruins are rare on Menorca, on our favourite walk between Santo Tomas and the lovely town of Es Migjorn Gran. Saw some, but not many other sightseers, highly recommend this part of Menorca.
