Bistrot Chez Ju

We've passed by this place a few times and today decided to give it a go. We got a warm welcome from the waitress and we're give a choice of a couple of tables to choose from. On the wall there is a menu with starters and mains so while we were deciding what to have we ordered our drinks that being a 1/2 carafe of rose to which I was told they only sell wine by the glass, the bottle or you have the option of taking the bottle, drinking what you want and only being charged for what you drink - alternatively you can take the plat du jour (dish of the day) which is composed of starter, main course, dessert, glass (large) of wine and a coffee for the price of 19.50€ - a no brainier - we chose this option. The starter was gnocchi with a Parmesan sauce followed by sirloin steak, fries and homemade tartare sauce. Personally I wasn't keen on the steak but I'm a fussy meat eater anyway so that was my problem not the restaurants. Dessert was chocolate mousse, fresh strawberries or another dish but I'd already chosen chocolate mousse :-) We had a lovely glass of rose wine followed by a coffee. What we also loved about the place was the ambience - the owner (it was easy to see who he was) was very friendly and it was nice to see how many people knew each other. At no point did we feel out of place. We will be going back ;-)

We (from Israel) spent a short vacation of 4 days in February. Many restaurants were closed. We just took a list from Tripadvisor and started phoning them early in the day. I was very happy to talk to Chez Ju in the afternoon. Initially, he thought the restaurant was fully booked, but I did not give up... Chez Ju asked to call him in an hour to find out if they can arrange a table for us (4 people). Voila.... we got it.The welcome was outstanding. A light, positive and smiling atmosphere welcome us. No written menu, but a blackboard with a list of dishes. I had special meal requirements and Chez Ju was immediately glad to cook vegetables and rice for me! (Tell me when did you get a special dish cooked on the spot for you?). We spent two hours enjoying the place, the food, the wine (his recommendation) and sporadic but welcome small talks with Chez Ju. Strongly recommended if you look for a non formal, but "family like" place with style and good food. Thanks Chez Ju!

We visited in 2015 and revisited June 2016.I was told never to back to something you really enjoyed. Visiting Chez Ju again dispelled that idea. The charming staff and the excellent inexpensive menu make a visit to this quaint establishment well worthwhile .I give this review reluctantly as it will make it more difficult to get a table.

Beautiful outside seating area across the street from the restaurant, extremely friendly and supportive service, great quality of food. Although we had to leave unexpectedly after the starters due to family reasons we still had a great impression of the quality of food. Will definitely come back for the mains soon, thank you Ju!!!
