Passing through Corsica in August 2023, I used to do my shopping at Alba Marché (top butcher shop) in Folleli but that day it was 7:30 p.m. and therefore closed. So I went to this Vescovato butcher shop and I made the biggest mistake of my life. I wanted to have a barbecue with guests that evening, so I took 3 kg of marinated drumstick and 1 kg of merguez. The welcome from the young butcher was very cold and did not speak with me. The butcher takes the marinated drumsticks to put them in the paper packaging and suddenly he stops, he Puts the marinated drumsticks back in the bin, he takes unmarinated drumsticks, dips them in a sauce and puts them in a box. I ask him why? And then he answers me in an angry tone that unmarinated drumsticks are better. I don't understand so I told him again that I don't understand why he was doing this. He barely answers me. I get home, I pack my cooler with ice packs inside for transport, the guests are waiting for me, I open the bag and THERE I smell a weird smell coming out of the chicken, a smell like vomit , the drumsticks must have stayed at least 3 or 4 days in the butcher's bin with little cold I think. Ditto for the merguez which smelled bad. I'm really ashamed to tell them that the chicken and merguez smell bad and that we're not going to eat barbecue tonight . I call the butcher 4 or 5 times that same evening at 10 p.m., he sends me an SMS, I tell him that it's not good to have sold me expired meat and then he calls me back in the evening even explaining to me that he has health problems in this case with his sense of smell and that he did not smell an odor. So why did he put the expired chicken back in the bin to marinate some more for me? And why does he tell me nothing? I don't think you would have done that to a local. I left a few days later to express my dissatisfaction, the young man who served me was not there, another was there who did not speak French, he wanted to give me other meat in exchange but impossible I want a refund and he reimburses me. Avoid as much as possible and make your purchases at ALBA marche in Folleli, it's a magnificent HALAL butcher's shop with super friendly people.
