Bubar

When you step inside the feel is delightful. Tonnes of fantastic stuff dotted around the place. It feels more like a quirky home than a bar. Whilst our initial welcome was warm and friendly, the general attitude of the owner was quite confusing. There is...almost no seating other than at the bar, yet you are not allowed to sit there with food. Choose to sit at the one table and you are told you are not allowed to sit there unless you buy a bottle of wine (we had glasses). He did however accommodate us as there was nobody else there at the time. I wouldn't go as far as saying he was rude. It just made for a confusing experience. Despite wanting to stay here for a while when we stepped through the door we decided to finish up our drinks and move on as we just didn't feel comfortable after a few awkward interchanges.

We went to a lot of wine bars in Paris and Bubar was by far my favorite bar. It's got a low key divey vibe which is the embodiment of the owner, jean Lou. He technically has a wine list but the best thing to...do is to let him what you like in a wine and let him do his thing. He doesn’t carry any French wines strangely enough but he knows all of his wines very well and is good at describing them without alienating you if you're not a wine connoisseur. I love that he has cds everywhere and plays them. He also is a fun guy to talk to if you talk to him and he seems to enjoy seeing people have conversations on bar. It's super close to the touristy bastille area but doesn't get swarmed with crowds. I wish this bar existed in San Francisco.

If you want real Paris, swing by Bubar. Is hidden not far from Place de la Bastille. The owner is super-welcoming and friendly. In good hands when I tell him what I like, and he comes back with some wonderful wines that are spot-on. Love...the kitschy interior with the stacks of CDs, and now with the outdoor seating if you want some fresh air. Great spot for gathering with a friend or two for a laidback evening of nice wine at an affordable price and in a welcoming ambiance. The owner is a hawk for sanitation. I stood up from my seat, and he instantly reminded me to wear my mask. Good for him!

I met the owner, Jean Luc, years ago when he opened Bubar Just dropped in tonight an he’s still there, and is as sweet as ever. This is a very informal place, so don’t expect eligance. Do expect very good prices, a huge...selection of wines by the glass, a casual, welcoming atmosphere; friendly patrons; and a knowledgeable owner with an incredible CD collection and a great beard (Bubar)

The perfect wine bar, great wine in a fantastic atmosphere with a lovely host. Came here looking for a traditional french wine bar and found much more. Très bien!
