Cafe De La Bourse

We stopped here for dinner whilst staying overnight in Le Mans after a long drive from the UK. The location is very good. close to the old town and the major hotels. We wanted a simple dinner and a glass of wine without any fuss, and we couldn't have done better. The service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive, and the food arrived quickly. My salade de gesiers was excellent, but so large that it defeated me. My husband had steak frites which he said was perfectly cooked. Wine comes in 50 cl pichets as well as by the glass or bottle, and that was just enough for the two of us. A good selection of desserts, I managed to find room for a panna cotta with raspberries, which was perfect.

We had lunch for 2 this week and I have nothing but praise. Started with Champagne (after a visit to the prefecture, necessary to celebrate) Steak frites with both the sauce poivre and fromage bleu, wine and then cheese and mousse au chocolat for dessert. Miam miam. High recommend and will visit again !

We have eaten here twice on our visits over the last year or two. The food is good, prices are reasonable and the location on the Place de La Republique is great. If people watching and decent food are your thing, then this won't disappoint.

Seems like 7pm is the bewitching hour for food but we arrived here about 10 to 7 but were taken good care of. Everyone enjoyed their food and service was good too.
