We have been going here for years, and up until recently everything was just fine a decent steak frites or plat du jour. We have tried to go three times in the past year, and twice the restaurant was "exceptionellement ferme" (closed exceptionally). On...our third visit, we found them open and as it was a sunny day, there were quite a few tables busy outside on a February day. We were there at so not late for lunch, but the gentleman who spoke with us gave us a curt "desole, termine" (sorry, finished serving lunch). At Really? I asked if they had run out of food, and he shrugged a terse "non" and that was it. Others arrived after us and were given the same treatment. So, it seems one has a or so window to eat here....strange way to run a restaurant, n'est-ce pas? So for me, that is three strikes and they are OUT. Already one restaurant in Tanneron is closed...perhaps these folks will be the second? They sure don't seem very keen on a warm welcome and serving customers. AVOID AVOID AVOID
We've been visiting this cafe for years, just having coffee or a drink under the trees in front of this old-France setting at the top of the hill, but never found the opportunity for a meal. A few weeks ago, enticed by the fresh ambiance...created by the new owners, we decided to have lunch. The prices were comparatively low and perhaps that should have been a warning. After a promising home-made tapenade we endured an overcooked and stodgy lasagna and a virtually cheese-free (but crouton-full) salade de chevre chaud. The coffee was 'alright'. It's such a shame because it is a lovely place to visit and the staff were delightful. With a different chef and perhaps a small hike in pricing they could do a great deal better. As it is, just go for a drink and read your paper
Christine and Michel the new owners have done a fantastic job by taking over this restaurant. Fresh products, good choices, dish of the day, and very competive prices. I can definitely recommend the home made red fruit crumble and the chocolate mousse ...friendly staff, fantastic...views from the terrasse over looking the mountains and the Town of Grasse. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends
We have visited this beautiful place a number of times with family, friend and just as a couple. The food is home cooked and amazing. We would thoroughly recommend taking a trip up the Tanneron mountain to this little gem
