We had the formula, of starter, main , pud, bread , wine and lemonade (mix yourself) . all for 11 euro's ...... can't go wrong rely. There are 4 choices of the entree, we both had the Paella (home made, and large portion). The main course is again a choice of 4, I had the fish, very nice, and my Friend had the Ham hock. This was the second time I have been hear and I find it friendly, clean and good value. I recommenced the Paella and they did not let me down. The older lady speaks French, the other servers mainly Spanish. I found it useful to use use my phone to translate the menu. There is a more expensive tapas menu and that looked very nice, several locals who arrived later had large filled rolls, these also looked very good. we had a beer on entry 1.40 e and a coffee after about 1.10e .
These are the mountains that surround Val d'Aran and the stream that follows right behind Casa Luis. What a glorious spot away from the bustle that is big city Spain-warm, sunny days, cool, dry evenings, a lively night scene and a small downtown that is walkable, charming and supplies everything. Luis is a first- rate host through airbnb-multi-lingual, organized, welcoming and available. He provided maps and info about many hikes and other activities. We went on an all day hike right out of the apartment! The apartment is beautiful, with a balcony overlooking the mountains and that gurgling stream which lulled us to sleep each night. Val d'Aran is an unexpected treasure that you will want to include on your trip to Spain.
Stopped here on the way home from Bakeira. Were really impressed with the size of the rations, the quality of the food and the friendliness of the service. After a quick glance at the menu it became clear why Casa Luis is also known as “El Rey de la bocata” (King of the Sandwich) by its neighboring crowd. Would advise a visit if you are looking for a quick bite or something to take away on a picnic in the outlying countryside.
We drove to Vielha for a short four day trip and found this place advertised as El rey de los bocadillos (The king of sandwiches). Well, our sandwich, that sounded so good (goat cheese and fig jam) was just a kind of cheese spread and a bit of jam that was even difficult to notice due to the lack of it. We took it to take away and when we got back to the hotel we got the disappointing surprise...
