I have always had my doubts about creperies. They sometimes seem designed to lighten the pocket without giving the diner much sense of long term satisfaction. You often feel you could make the same at home as well for less. But the Captain at Landeda has some advantages. There is not much by way of a rival in the locale, so we found it buzzing with customers. There is also a stunning view of the Aber Wrach from just about all the tables, which have been cleverly arranged to put some on a higher plane. There is choice of moules frites or steak tartare too for those who are crepe averse and a set menu for those with an eye for more of a bargain. We stuck to the savoury and sweet crepes which were freshly cooked, well presented and served efficiently, largely by slick young men with beards and a nautical air. We also sampled the excellent local cider. Although the tables are crowded in we did not feel too cramped, and we left reasonably contented, especially given the lack of an alternative. The bill though was the same as for a much more ambitious meal at a great restaurant miles away in a less populated area. So my lingering doubts about creperies probably remain. But in Landeda the crowd probably knows the score and the strength of the opposition.
