From what I hear, Chano 's Tacos is a well rated place over in Georgetown. So it 's nice to see that they 've opened up a second location in Leander. Chano 's Tacos #2 is located inside the Shell Gas Station at the intersection of Hero Way and Ronald Reagan Blvd. I didn 't see any signage indicating this but trust me, it 's in there. Among other things there 's a wide open serving area and about a dozen chairs by the window, so it takes up a sizable footprint on its own. I can see why it was crowded with hungry construction workers at noon when I went. I got the 3 taco plate for $8 in order to try their chicken, al pastor, and barbacoa tacos. This comes with rice and beans, though you have to buy your drink separately from the gas station store. This isn 't a problem since you have to pay for your meal at the gas station register in any case. The bean and rice portions are a little skimpy, which is a shame since they 're excellent the beans have flavor, and the rice wasn 't too wet or overdone. The order was also mishandled slightly in that I asked for onions and cilantro. But the taco portions are good sized and all tasty the chicken 's plain without the aforementioned o c, but the al pastor 's quite good. In fact the barbacoa 's damned good even though it dripped enough excess grease to lube a tractor! Definitely worth a visit if you 're nearby and jonesing for an honest taco. This place scores a 4 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale ', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come to Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come to Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come to Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus ' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come to the Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn 't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come to Nobody good. I wouldn 't have my penultimate supper here, either.
