There's no doubt that, on such an evening, this terrace of a fine old building is a truly lovely location. The food is certainly good, but not outstanding, but the service was delightful. A little formal and traditional, but attentive and helpful with enquiries about the dishes. BUT (and it's a big BUT) we were just unlucky; sitiing there enjoying the peace, just the two of us, and a party of about a dozen people arrived, with four or five children who proceeded to colonise the whole area, turning it into a playground. Is it my imagination, or are people (parents that is) totally de-sensitised to the feelings of others these days? They clearly weren't interested at all in whether their little darlings were annoying other diners, but just glad to let them run around haywire so that they could get on chatting. Neitrher did the restaurant people think to say anything. Strange; I know the current trend is to indulge children to the nth degree, and never tell them off or give them instructions on behaviour, but this was really unfortunate in such a lovely spot. Anyone else have this kind of problem?
