We managed to get a table in the snack area where they served from 11 am to 2 pm. We arrived at 1:30 pm but had to wait 10 minutes before the harassed waiter allowed us to sit at a free table. Two of our friends arrived a bit later and were given a table next to us. The waiter then arrived around 2 pm to take the order and told them that it was too late and they should not have been given a table! A free table waiting. Then he proceeded to serve other people who had arrived after our friends. So our friends left and the other people waited over 1 hour for a bowl of soup to be served. The food was quite good and the fouace out of this world but surely the service could be a bit more gracious and less surly.
A misty day walking on the Aubrac plateau and through the gloom we sought refuge in the comfortable cafe. A cup of coffee could not manage without a piece of delicious fruity tart. Tearing ourselves away to visit the fascinating local museum, we had to return to Chez Germaine for an overflowing salad bowl lunch. Tasty and good value, a welcome break.
Hiking the pilgrimage route we came upon this lovely place. Being morning the front terrace offered great shade. It was the ideal place for coffee and a portion of red currant tart, and what tart, deliciously tangy and filled with fruit! Service was friendly, other hikers loved a chat, it is highly recommended for a stop!
Though we only stopped for a snack, we wished we had been hungry for a fullMeal. The menu looked delicious. The service was welcoming and helpful. Clearly staff are proud of their establishment and have the right to be. We had the best pies, and hot chocolate there. Plus the location is beautiful.
