Chez le Bougnat

Not much appears to happen in Dives-sur-Mer at 8pm on a weekday evening except for the sounds and the signs of life at Le Bougnat. It was as well that we had booked because the restaurant appeared busy on our arrival, and became busier as the evening progressed. Again, here was another establishment offering good French cooking with no sign of skimping or corner-cutting. The wine choice turned out to be especially good. The only real disappointment was in the service when we waited ages to be given menus when we had arrived, and it seemed an eternity - well, twenty minutes - between ordering our dessert and its arrival.

Menues only in french led me to order Tete au veau. Not a good choise. No internet connection = no google translate, you know! I wish the waiter would have been able to explain what the different dishes was.... Everything else was delicious and: The rest of the party enjoyed their meals

We went on a Saturday night and the place was packed, with tables being 'turned' when vacated. At one point there was a queue of people waiting for tables - even the outside tables were being used. Subsequently service wasn't quick. Good food as usual. Not cheap.

Nice place. Beautyful decoration from around 1920-1945. Typical old local dishes. We liked very much. If you eat a la carte, prices are a bit higher.

Best pork I've ever bad! They have friendly service, great seasonal menu and an impressive wine list.
