Booked up for Christmas eve, it wasnt very busy when we got there, we sat in the alcove at the front. We got there at 8.00 p.m but were not told the kitchen was closing at 10.00 p.m. as the chef had to get a bus home. We ordered our starters which were nice but very small portions, then we wanted to wait for our crispy duck but they bought it sooner than we wanted it, then they came and told us about the kitchen closing so we had to order our main course straight away. By then the restaurant was near enough empty and the staff started clearing away and laying tables around us, which we were not impressed with. The price had gone up to 21.95 per person for the Christmas period 10% service charge so it cost us nearly £40 including drinks each. The food was nice but we felt very uneasy as if they just wanted us to go home which as it was Christmas eve we expected a better atmosphere. I think they have priced themselves out now as we have been here on Christmas eve before and it has always been really busy. Hopefully when the new chinese restaurant opens things will change as they will lose custom
We have'nt been here for many years , but used to be a regular haunt, in past food always good, but staff miserable, we would always laugh about this! Today we booked last minute on train back from London and they accommodated us although a busy Sat night, got to say food is still excellant, beautifully cooked and good flavours. Portions are small, but we prefer this, just order extra if you are a big eater. Prices aren't cheap, but not too pricy either. Staff were excellant, accommodating, happy and on the ball, quick service but not rushed, wont leave it so long to go back!!
We have eaten here several times and have enjoyed our visits. The food is freshly cooked to order, selecting a variety of dishes from the extensive menu, and the service is efficient. The portions seem to have got a bit smaller recently but that’s a positive as it means you can order more dishes and a bigger range (or extra dishes of your favourite). It’s a fixed price for as much as you can eat. The manager is friendly and cheerful and always greets us well. Recommended.
Once again, another lovely experience at our favourite local Chinese restaurant. Booked here for my birthday this year with girlfriends and once again, the food was really good and service was just as good as it normally is. Great value for money here. Definitely worth trying if you haven't visited before.
