Cicchetteria Da Rosa

Dwelling through the tourist area of the Altstadt in Zurich once again, I decided to look for a place that would seve me decent Italian food in a relaxed setting. It was a rainy evening. Offering ample sidewalk seating, Cicchertteria had huge umbrellas protecting the outside tables from the drizzling rain. Perfect! Nobody bothered that I was solo. A glimpse at the small menu card gave me hope. A not-that-young gentleman came to get the order, we chatted and I ended up asking him to surprise me ... And so he did. It was quickly clear to me that he likes to please his customers; he is rightfully proud of what he offers. I ate a delicous seafood pasta as Primo and two (!) portions of fish Secondi; the latter quite small upon my request but I couldn't resist tasting it. Oh yes, good wine to my tasting.As the rain started pouring like hell, I had to go inside, where I savoured their delicious Amaro del Capo. It is my favorite Calabrian bitter. At the bar, you can read free newspapers ... and relax.This is a small place, with few tables inside. But such a warm a welcome, that you cannot but return there. Quality is excellent and the bill ... surprisingly affordable for Zurich standards!

Located at Hirschenplatz, Cicchetteria is a small and very nice cafe/bar and restaurant in the Niederdorf. Sidewalk seating is offered in nice weather, while inside offers a cozy atmosphere with about eight dining tables and then seats located around the bar. There is a wall-mounted TV, which was showing a car racing event on my visit.The staff is Italian and very, very nice and even spoke English. There is an open kitchen and you can watch the chef as he prepares all the dishes. In this visit, I only had a cold beverage but on the next visit a sampling of their food will definitely be on the order.The place has even stepped up their game with their clean fragrant restrooms, hand lotion and mouthwash! Casual family owned and operated Italian restaurant located near a Platz. We sat under an umbrella , was entertained by people juggling, singing and dancing in the Platz. My husband loved the salmon and lemon pasta (enough that he wanted it two nights in a row.) I had pasta both nights. The staff does not speak English well.

They may struggle with English, but they work hard at understanding and the food delivered was quick and delicious. Well worth the visit with an excellent risotto and really good baked seafood spaghetti. Desserts were equally very good. Service was simply excellent.

100% italian food and beer! Small card but delicious dishes served with love by the owners! We will come back!
