For my wife and I, any other BBQ place has to measure up against City BBQ--and nothing has measured up. We absolutely love it! It has the trifecta...great smoked meats, fantastic sides, and awesome sauces. They also have yummy tea and lemonade. Sadly, we don't have a City anywhere around us. We live near Pigeon Forge. So we take it when we can get it. This visit was on my own while making a trip to Versailles, KY. Notice I ordered big and asked for to go lids with my order. Service with a smile. Consistently smoked meats. Love it! Today, they had a bunch of weddings. They were stacking up food and piling into vans for deliveries. But the counter orders were still prompt. They also gave me a large foil pan and lid to use like a cooler for my 3-hour trip home. Great team! Great food! Great place! You will not be disappointed.Kid-friendliness: Staff was very friendly with the kids, even when they got in the way of them loading the delivery vans.Dietary restrictions: I have to work around egg and dairy allergies. There is plenty to choose from here.
Lexington is a city of good eating. Good restaurants everywhere. But this is different. Hands down the best barbecue this side of Nashville. Polite helpful service, comfortable down to earth atmosphere, but the very best BBQ I've *ever had. I can't believe it took me this long to eat here. I frequently take my little Yorkie to Feeders Pet Supply to wash him and always meant to stop in City Barbeque. But they even gave me a little complimentary bowl of pulled pork for my pup ? ?... great ppl as good as the food!
I'm not trying to bash city bbq cause normally I love it. The brisket is my favorite but not this time. It was tough, didn't taste like brisket at all, didn't taste smoked. Like I said, I love city bbq but I think different locations taste better than others. Not consistent from store to storeFood: 1/5
This was a first time visit for us. We really enjoyed the food. The Texas toast is one of the best in town. Overall a pretty affordable meal as well. The peach cobbler was great. I am definitely looking forward to trying some more sides.Follow us for more great reviews Food: 5/5
