Brisket was served thick but was juicy well marbled, seasoned smoked just right with a flaky solid bite. Served with a fluffy bun. Original Sauce was not too sweet with a little kick but the hot was great flavor heat! Mashed potatoes were recommended by the waiters and were excellent, creamy very flavorful. Okra Corn Bread was unique tasty goodness came w jalapeño butter. Mac cheese was light and cheesy perfect al dente spirals w shredded cheese top. I was everywhere in the USA North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Wyoming, North Dakota, Michigan. I had the best food in all places in the Middle West. Tonight we stayed at Claxon on vacation and had the best food I had? ve ever eaten from any place I've ever been. We could not believe the amount of food, quality and amazing taste. Kim was a great server, great atmosphere and filled us in the history of the smokehouse. If you haven't been here yet, you must make the trip. 10/10 we will be in Des Moines the next time!
The food was good, but a bit pricey if you?re on a budget. I thought the meal I ordered came with sauce on the meat, but I had to add BBQ sauce to it. The coleslaw was unexpectedly spicy. I didn?t appreciate the gratuity being automatically added to my bill. I prefer to decide for myself how much to tip based on the level of service provided for dining in. The restaurant itself seemed to be clean. The lady?s bathroom was mostly clean.
Service was great. Everything was good. Get the ribs. Great smoke taste, but her home sauce is a little different. Good, but different.
