The facade of the old Assiniboia Club on Victoria caught our attention so we stopped in to Crave for lunch. Likely not as elegant as it may have been when it was the Club (it closed 30 June 1994), but Crave is still an interesting place to dine. Not busy, we were seated in the main dining room by windows facing Victoria Ave. There is seating on the patio but it was too windy this day. The restaurant has several rooms of different sizes on the main floor used for groups and/or special occasions. Friendly service, eclectic lunch menu, OK selection of wine and beer (no local brews), a few ciders. Opted for a Chickpea Fritter with strawberry yogurt and succotash. Fritters (4 deep fried) were OK, the yogurt was almost non existent. More would have balanced the flavours better. Second order was the Chef Salad. Mixed greens were a bit bitter and there was too little dressing. Washrooms clean, credit cards accepted.
