Culina Hortus

I like Saturday 10 Oct at 7:16 without real hope to find 1 table for 2 and nice surprise, if we arrive in the 1/2h they have room. My friend is unpacked but agrees to go see the map rather vague for 1 menu without choice and without drinks at 60€. We decide to cancel it is 7:45 max and my friend gets literally housped by the 3 employees present: we don't have the right, they refused other people in the meantime, etc. At this moment the restaurant is empty except 1 table of 2. At what point can a merchant afford such a lack of professionalism? Did he ever get wrong or change his mind? Even if economic activity is slowed and difficult in which world we talk like this to potential customers? What about the two people who initially distracted, they also got dressed? We had the courtesy to warn them what is not the case of everyone and we are treated with irresponsible as if their life depended on it. My friend came from Canada after 1 white night for 1 death in his family and almost collapsed in front of so many wonders. But what's your problem?

We were there at lunch This is the second time we come to this restaurant. Last year, we had an extraodinary experience, I remember the dish presented in earthy form with fresh and sarrasin potato, which remains the best vegetarian dish I ate. I always dream of it. On the other hand, today at noon we did not find the exceptional meal, the price and the quality have increased, but in my opinion the creativity and quantity have diminished. The feeling we have, is a kitchen more focused on the complexity of presentation and less on the originality of combinations and quantity. For example, the dish with risotto and eggplant was very well composed artistically, but appeared to us ordinary and the amount of risotto was less. Nevertheless, the gnocchi with shallots was excellent and my favorite dish was the dessert of hazelnut meringue, it was really perfectly realized. We are not a big eater, sometimes struggling to finish the plates in some restaurants, but today we came out with hunger.

Mixed enough for this meal I thought was exceptional. The frame is beautiful, pleasant and sober. However, two of the dishes (out of eight) were cruelly fades: an eggplant, and gnocchis to quote them. Few relief on flavors, aqueous, with too coarse tastes of garlic or onion shallots confits. The rest of the meal catches up with these disappointments, especially the juices that perfectly enhance vegetarian dishes. However, I was more shocked and surprised by the vegetarian preparations of the Mutinerie, another Lyon restaurant, than those of Culina who is supposed to specialize in these dishes.

Unfortunately, we were in a hurry during our meal. It's very bad when we've made the road to come. And then, the service lacks soul when you ask questions you feel that you disturb the servers and that it requires them an effort to be kind. It is gastro but it's not for these first two reasons, but we liked our dessert a lot, and the entrance plate, but really gambled by the pressure and the lack of soul of the Malagasy restaurant on the very clean side very clearly worked.

Despite the reputation of the kitchen, ns renounced to reserve due to the removal of a penalty of 80 euros in case of cancellation less than 24h avt because it leaves the print of the bank card. But an unexpected is unfortunately possible tjrs (maladie, accident... . Information taken, it's illegal. An unfortunate derives from the current context. Ice house on the phone. Too bad. Recent negative reviews on different sites for similar pbs.
