•mukbang• my new discovery on YouTube but after watching one too many set me on the hunt for KFC (Korean Fried Chicken)!
We decided to go to Dae Jang Kum on a friend's recommendation and it was pretty good overall :)
Situated in Eastwood, during dinner peak hour parking can be a nightmare but Dae Jang Kum unlike most other restaurants in the area had its own upfront parking lot for customers only, so big thumbs up! Once you are inside it's a nice cost restaurant that is distinctively Korean.
The food overall was pretty good with a few misses. My favourite was the chilli paste marinated crab that they gave us as part of the free starters (typical of Korean restaurant), it was fantastic. The crab itself is raw but has been marinated and fermented! Finger licking good! I would pay for that dish! (Ate it so fast no photo ????). The seafood pancake was also a hit with everyone at the table praising it all night. And we devoured the thing in no time - so again no photo here ????!
The misses, pork wrap was bland, too thickly cut and not melt in your mouth tender, a little dry and chewy. The spicy fried chicken although moist and tender but the sauce was too heavy and sweet that made it a bit unpleasant after a few bites. But we still finished everything ????????
I would certainly go back again and try the other dishes. It was a great night and overall great food ;) Service was fantastic, the boss spoke fluent English! Food was on the table fast and hot. Go try it if you are craving for Korean food ????
