would really recommend this place. my partner and I were here for a few nights back in august 2021 and we absolutely loved it. the place is absolutely beautiful. the rooms were simple, but we were more than happy with it, because we only spent time there when we were sleeping and ready. the rooms had basic conveniences like a wardrobe, a complete mirror that is very handy, tea and coffee accessories, shower and dressed. I couldn't make it for the price we paid. we had dinner in the restaurant before place one of the nights that was beautiful. we didn't have to book and the food was so nice. it was so romantic and we could even buy some drinks to come back to the room with us. the location is perfect because it is not far from brixham where we were in the position to get a boat torquay so that we can see so many places in a short time. the personal was so kind and attentive, what is nice to see when they go on vacation because they gave us a really nice greeting. the gardens were absolutely beautiful, there was so much to see, I think we spent an hour or so around the place for which we did not have to pay extra. around the building there were so many different things like wood carving or ceramic or even the national park running around, so there is so much to do. we will come back soon because we loved it absolutely. many thanks for a brilliant stay

I always loved being here. but it really went down the hill over the years. it used to be free to walk the gardens. they're gonna charge $7. Previously it was free to park. they also calculated you for it now* they offered earlier discounts for their studios to local artists. I have hundreds of pounds to save, then great. if not, they are filled. Previously they could walk along the river and pick up a kajak or paddle board for £10 or so. that has changed too. now they have to book together scrounge at least £150 and a group of six people minimally and apparently months in advance, despite the fact that there is always a full of unused boats through the water (I counted 30 on my last visit.) Earlier they could walk in the restaurant the white hard and order some chips on Saturday afternoon. but the last time I did that was told to me that they “not serve food for non-residents”. I give him two stars instead of one, because the green table makes something nice to eat. the steak sandwich and the frittata are especially good*. for those who experience parking fees, they simply don't pay. it is a private parking space and the “fine” are not enforceable. they buy their address from the dvla so they can send them letters that they follow for money. ignore them and they let you rest. I had about 100 tickets from dartington. have not paid a single one.

Absolutely stunning! Honestly blown away by the grounds and breathtaking views. An inner city Londoner and have never been to anywhere like this. Honestly you have to visit here. Good location to reach other towns locally and a 20 minute drive to a beach. We had a superior room in the west wing and was absolutely stunning! Honestly can't fault anything what so ever. The reviews below are disappointing regarding the parking. We had parking from when we arrived and until the check out day which they give until the end of the day, not your check out times. I think if you're just visiting for the day then yes you will have to pay for parking but just like anywhere else you visit with paid parking.

a star is too many. I visited here with friends in the april and get a parking fine without time or art to appeal, despite the payment for parking in the first instance. the call process is a sweat as they do not answer the specified email, and online it goes round in circles from one side to another and back to start. livid puts it mild
