The elderly, white haired woman serving us was unashamedly rude. We waited 20 minutes for her to reach our table. She took our order as if she was doing us a favour and it didn't stop there. She then refused to serve us bread to accompany the aperitif. Her response to this simple question was, "après", which, following a subsequent request, was accompanied by "not now". After 60 minutes of waiting, we hadn't been served any food. Her semi-aggressive response to our question on the status of our order was, "ca cuit", followed by, "there is a problem was the pizza!". At 90 minutes we threw in the towel. It was impossible to sustain the incompetence, attitude and outright rudeness of the staff any longer. We paid for our wine and left. We were a group of 7 French nationals and one kiwi, so language wasn't an issue. Putting it simply, I would not recommend this establishment to any self respecting restaurant goer!
I have been there for a dinner with a colleague. Staff does not speak English and they do not have menu in English. Having problems with reading menu in French, I decided to take a safe choice - Wiener schnitzel. I have got extremely hot plate and I burned my fingers quite badly. Schnitzel was full of oil, burned on one side. French fries were quite OK.The price I paid was pretty normal, this is not a very cheap restaurant where you can expect low quality food.The restaurant is in a nice location at the beginning of the historical city centra. They have also a garden, which can be nice in the summer, however after my experience I would not go there again.
As a local I have been to Restaurant de la Tour at least 20 times for business lunches, as a couple and with friends. The food and service has always been very good or better. During the summer months sitting on the tree shaded terrasse with a very special athmosphere is delightful. When it comes to the decoration of the otherwise pleasant dining room, the visit of an interior designer could do wonders.
Visited here last week for the 1st time while travelling in Switzerland. Great local restaurant: food was generous and delicious. The place has a lovely atmosphere aided by the friendly staff. Definitely recommend it and will be back!
