Came in the tea rooms for lunch and ordered food for our small group. The offer was mostly sandwiches, paninis and the like, and a soup of the day. Everything was minimal in size, with pretty much a large teacup of not especially appetising soup....Most striking was the sandwiches. These were really literally supermarket sliced bread sandwiches, and not good sliced bread at that. Cheese was cheap mild cheddar, the Yorkshire ham didn't stand out as anything that you wouldn't find in Sainsburys. Salads were a few mouthfuls and the side of crisps with one order was, I would say, about half a small packet of OK crinkle-cut crisps. The prices were mid-range for a cafe, and in that context really, really not good value. The tea room itself is pleasant and the staff friendly and attentive, and it looks a promising prospect, but not recommended if you want to eat and feel like you've got your money's worth. Genuinely, a meal deal from the nearby Co-op would have been better. For what it's worth, I'd encourage the owners to really rethink their food offer. Decent, chunky fresh bread, tasty cheeses and cooked meats, along with much heartier portion sizes would feel like a good offer and bring in diners they could even charge slightly more if the ingredients and portions were good enough. As it stands, the food felt cheap, but wasn't.
