During our first visit to lunch (14/2/2023) I couldn't find a mistake at the service or at lunch. The wine selection was good and the food (steak for main and smoked trout rillette for entree) was excellent so delicious and well presented. The waiting staff was also attentive. During our second visit to lunch (we would like to come back so much) I was very disappointed. I ordered the chicken with potato daphinoise (or similar). The chicken itself was good, but the main reason I ordered this item was actually for the potato accompaniment. What I received was a half of a roast potato and a plate full of mist cauliflowers. Very disappointing. This disappointment was also aggravated by the fact that none of the waiting staff were looking for how we enjoy the meal and if everything was satisfactory or not. The disappointment was even worse, as our expectations for a repetition experience of the first time we have been denounced here were very high. The main reason for my bad review is that the article I received does not match the description of the article on the menu and no waiting personnel checked with us to see if we were satisfied with the meal.
I have dined here a few times and have always been impressed. A lovely atmosphere with high quality and well presented dishes. The service is attentive but not intrusive polite but slightly dull not very much warmth or personality. Nevertheless good service. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. I have ordered a Caesar salad and sticky toffee pudding in many restaurants throughout the UK and these at Fishmore are among the best ... BUT, in my opinion, the portions could be more generous. Perhaps the management and the chef would consider this. I acknowledge that we don't want a lot of food wasted but perhaps the option of a smaller (or larger) portion could be offered. Overall, however, excellent! I shall continue to visit.
The food was presented nicely and of a good temperature, unfortunately something in the burger was over seasoned and tasted very salty or it could have been the bitterness from too many gherkin slices. The steak was well cooked and of good quality and the chips were very good. Due to there being low numbers of diners the ambiance was very flat and the room uninspiring but the staff were polite and efficient.
Food and atmosphere were brilliant. The staff was really attentive and the service was great. Nothing was too much trouble and we will definitely return and recommend others.
