We visited early in our 7 week holiday for a beer and was advised that food was not available until the following Wednesday. We did return to have a cooked English breakfast. Got to say as it was cook fresh for us it’s possibly one of the nicest English breakfasts we’ve consumed. We returned a week later for same again and wish we hadn’t! Talk about the tale of two breakfasts. The second was such a let down compared to the first we had tasted. Bacon dry and reheated, mushrooms were dry and warmed up (they were awful), the only positive thing was the fresh fried egg. After this we avoided the place and did not give them the benefit of the doubt. Best thing is to wait for the proprietor to go away for a few days, then you’ll likely get that fresh cooked English breakfast.
We stayed in Orba for 16 days during August/September 2020 and had been left details of restaurants and bars nearby to visit. This bar was literally 2 minutes walk from our villa and so we visited on almost a daily basis including for my birthday. Although we usually just had drinks (which were huge measures! we also ate there on several occasions for full English breakfasts and dinners including on my birthday. Tracey the landlady’s cooking is great. Her steaks were beautifully cooked and her ribs were delicious and she was a great source of information on places to visit. Both her and Daz her partner made us feel really welcome and we enjoyed every visit.
Having recently visited family for the first time in over 2 years, I reacquainted myself with Tracey Darren at El Forn Vell. A warm welcome, great service, tasty food and a shady terrace, this bar is strongly recommended for anyone visiting this charming valley in inland Spain. Places like this are rew and far between in this area and the service is second to none. Thank you Tracey Darren for your hospitality and warm welcome.
One of the best steaks a have had in a very long time the onion rings where crispy and delicious as was the chips. Great service and can't wait to go back for another one
