El Maguey Mexican

My family has come to El Maguey for over 5 years. We have tolerated consistent bad and rude service. Waiting is terrible, even your order on most days. Last Friday, my husband and I shared a burrito. I asked to have the chili on the side and also asked to try the red and green chili. If you're asking for a drink refill or something, is it like you? They brought our bill to a portable credit card processor. She asked us $2.00 for the chili then another $3,50 for me, both red and green chili (each salsa were in tiny salsa bowls and not worth $5,50). The waitress didn't tell us about the extra $5.50 of the fees. Then the credit card machine had 18/20/25% options for tips. My husband hit the other option and left a lower amount. He went to the bathroom and the waitress comes to me and says: Is that your husband?? I was like? And she tells me he obviously doesn't like me very well?.? I was confused and said he likes you.? Then she tells me? I can just feel he doesn't like me? I didn't know until I spoke to my husband, it was because of the lower tip he left. Don?t overload us and don't tell us and then try to manipulate it to make it appear because it was because he doesn't like you because you don't get an unnoticed 20% tip. It's so unprofessional to come to me and confront me about my husband. Unfortunately, I had enough of the bad service and attitude. We will not return.

The best in town! Always a good experience, good service, friendly staff, delicious food. My family has been here since the 80s. They have seen my brother grow up, and now they watch his children grow up, LOL. Your salsa is amazing. If it came in a glass, it would be hot.

The best Mexican food in the southern district. My mother, who makes the best Mexican food I've ever had, said that's her favorite. Everything is so authentic, fresh and hot. Great salsa and chips. The Tamales are the best! Just go!

First time trying out this place and will definitely be coming back. I have the pozole my partner the menudo. Both were very tasty. Definitely recommend both. The kids chicken taco w/ fires was a hit for my picky 4 yr old.

Salsa's good. Food is solid. Service is the worst! If you ask for a refill for your water, it is as if you disturb it. Food delivery takes twice as long as it should. It has gone down the hill!!!! No more recommended.
