El Rancho Grande

Ich fand El Rancho online und ich bin so glücklich, dass ich es getan habe. Ich hielt an einem Samstagnachmittag für ein spätes Mittagessen um 14.00 Uhr vorbei, also war das Restaurant nicht zu beschäftigt. Ich begann mit ihrem Haus Margarita (einfach, nicht aromatisiert), das ausgezeichnet und mit nur der richtigen Menge an Tequila war. Ihre Chips und Salsa sind hausgemacht, und die Salsa hat einen reichen tiefen rauchigen Geschmack mit nur einem Hauch von Wärme. Das kleine Guacamole war auch frisch und cremig. Ich bestellte das Hühnermaul-Endrée (12 US-Dollar), das mit gelbem Reis serviert wurde, von Bohnen und Tortillas. Die Maulwurfsauce war komplex und eines der besten, das ich je hatte. Ich hätte es nur ein bisschen weniger süß. Mitten in meiner Mahlzeit sagte Chef Maria Hallo für mich, fragte, wie alles war - ausgezeichnet, ich antwortete - und dann goss sie schnell einen freien Schuss von Tequila, denn wir beide, die wir in der Bar sitzen, sowie für sich selbst. Was für eine schöne Geste! Der Service war ausgezeichnet und freundlich. Meine Mahlzeit belief sich auf 32 Dollar vor Tipp, darunter zwei Margaritas für 14 Dollar. Ich möchte wiederkommen und alles andere in ihrem Menü ausprobieren.

I found El Rancho online and I am so happy that I did. I stopped by for a late lunch at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon, so the restaurant was not too busy. I began with their house margarita (plain, not flavored), which was excellent and with just the right amount of tequila. Their chips and salsa are homemade and the salsa has a rich deep smoky flavor, with just a touch of heat. The small guacamole was also fresh and creamy. I ordered the chicken mole entrée ($12), which was served with yellow rice, refried beans and tortillas. The mole sauce was complex and one of the best I have ever had. I would have preferred it just a tad bit less sweet, however. In the middle of my meal, Chef Maria said hello to me, asked how everything was – Excellent, I replied - and then she promptly poured a free shot of tequila for the two of us sitting at the bar, as well as for herself. What a lovely gesture! Service was excellent and friendly. My meal totaled $32 before tip, including two margaritas for $14. I want to come back and try everything else on their menu.

I liked the ambiance here - cozy yet casualMy friend and I were promptly seated as we got there at 6 for an early dinner.

Just noticed this old review from 8 years ago- I have to add that the mixed drinks are now awesome.
