For a lark, I wanted to introduce my Chinese wife to western style Chinese food. My wife is from Hong Kong and spent many years there and travelling in Mainland China along with living in Singapore (a more western, Asian country) but she has never tasted Western style Chinese food. I wanted to be sure to get her the best tasting food to compare her authentic food to what we serve here and so I asked the internet and Family Wok was received the highest rating in town. So of course, I thought I would try it, and we were not disappointed in any way with this restaurant. We ordered a Dinner for 2 with a few extras and the food came quickly, There was enough food to feed us for two dinners each and the Broccoli and beef dish was surprisingly delightful. The chicken balls were also perfection, however, the fried rice was a little bland. I guess the western diet, people would smother it in soy sauce.The order came to $33 for something that we got 4 meals out of so it was an incredible value.We live in a century home so our house is hard to find, but the driver has no problems finding us. She was very pleasant and considering that the roads were a total mess due to the freezing rain she still was able to get the food there in the time frame that the website comfirmed.For something that was meant to be a lark this turned out to be the best discovery of the year thus far, I will order again soon,
We were terribly disappointed with the food. About the only thing good about it was that it arrived hot. Three of the dishes tasted exactly the same yet what we had ordered were three totally different things! How can a chicken, beef and shrimp dish all taste the same? Easy, use the exact same sauce on all three and smother them with it!Definitely not buying from here again, and the funny (or sad) thing is that the person who delivered our food said it was the best in Oshawa. The only reason we even ordered from this place was because our go-to restaurant isn't open on Sundays. Next time we'll wait and get our Chinese food on Monday and eat Kraft dinner and hot dogs instead.
We have been searching for a Chinese food restaurant in Oshawa for some time. The phone service, and delivery person were pleasant the order came ahead of time on a Friday evening. The sweet and sour chicken balls were okay and there were lots of them. We only picked the shrimp out of the shrimp and cashew dish - there were 8 and the rest was celery mostly. The fried rice was more like steamed rice with a yellow tinge. I would be surprised if it was fried. We couldn't eat the spring rolls either and I am not a very fussy person. We won't be ordering from there again.
Recently moved to north Oshawa and did not know any Chinese food places. Ordered from one place and it was terrible. Tried this one found the food to be really tasty. One down side: I ordered the shrimp and scallops. While it tasted good, there were very few scallops or shrimp. However, I would not hesitate to order from there again....
