Fellini restaurant sits on the corner of O'Connell Street and Tynte, which is a short walk to any other restaurant or pub along the street. On walking in we were greeted by friendly staff and as we had no booking were squeezed in a corner which was fine as there were only the two of us. The prices are quite expensive for the pasta dishes on offer and the quality was average in flavor and ingredients for both items ordered. One of the pasta meals was just on warm which is a concern from a health point of view depending on the type of storage of the meals and the way they are prepared. The second meal was a seafood marinara dish which had half a crab on top of the pasta which was mixed in with prawns a little bit of fish and mussels/calamari. The crab appeared to have been cooked on a flat top plate and not steamed or boiled in salt water. Another sign of this is there is no taste to the meat inside the claw or body which was not cooked at all, thus it was left on the side plate away from the main dish. I couldn't fault the pasta nor the prawns, but the flavor of the sauce with mint combined was a strange combination. There was no side bowl of water to rinse your hands either or additional serviettes or plates to place the clam shells or crab shells and eat as you go. Crabs are meant to be either cooked in boiling salt water or preferably steamed above salt water for 3-5 minutes as a whole item peeled backless prior to enhance the flavor of the meat and set the meat to separate after cooking. You can also add chili or other flavors while doing this as an option for the meal but that's only my opinion. I would suggest if you order the marinara linguini the crab is left out of this meal to avoid any issues after leaving. We also had a dessert pizza. To die for which was very expensive but faultless. I think in regards to the overall quality of food over the last few years we have visited, it hasn't changed much which is a real shame as it has the old style character of the era inside the restaurant, but it really needs a shake up in the menu quality which is a main concern for most people who want a decent meal at a good price. Reading other reviews from travelers and Adelaide living people, it's price, quality and convenience required which is lacking and needs attention to detail. It's funny to compare but Pasta Go Go across the road near the Oxford Hotel has much better linguini for a third of the price which is hot and portable if you don't want a sit down meal and pay the extra cost. I am no way affiliated with them, but have eaten there many times as well and the comparison is major in regards to pasta meals. This would be better suited to the travelers who have commented on the previous posts. Fellini do have a take away service, but it is the same price tag which is too expensive for the quality which mostly ends up in the bin. ProsGreat dessert pizzaExcellent service from the staff who are attentiveConsNever been approached by the manager in regards to the meals while eating or seen him approach anyone else either! A lot of restaurants in North Adelaide have this service which assists in the way the place is running and is add vaule for improvementHalf cold pasta dishes served to be eatenSeafood needs to be cooked appropriately for health reasons I don't think we will be back anytime soon unfortunately, which is a real shame.
