The Freieck restaurant is at the outskirt of the city of Winterhur in the Seen district. It is situated along busy Tösstalstrasse and has been an institution in Winterthur for decades. Mr Schmucki as chef and his staff in the kitchen and Mrs Schmucki as front of the house do a marvellous job. You come here primarily for meat dishes, but also their specials such as mussels and asparagus (both seasonal) are absolutely outstanding. We also love their venison and vermicelli in the fall. The decor has a bit aged, but it is all about the food and foodies here. Highly recommended.
We've had dinner several times and every time it's been super accommodating, Küsches and the service are top notch, they've got it under control!! No matter what we ordered, it was always delicious a treat. The restaurant has a great charm from earlier times. We like it very much!
Excellent food (stroganof, filet-steack, liver, zürich-veal, rösti etc), desserts and excellent service. For us best and favorit restaurant in Winterthur. Reasonable prices. All my friends sharing my opinion.
Already our third visit to Freieck, and we would love to come back. Very good cuisine and courteous, professional service! Thanks to 2G we feel safe there.
