Gasthaus DÜrnberg

We had lunch here yesterday with friends and then celebrated my husband's birthday with a group of 28 people aged 2 to 70. We felt comfortable and welcome. The restaurant and wc are wheelchair accessible and lego was made available for the kids.The food and drinks were good and especially the Galgenspiess, a kebab served on gallows, went down well with the lads. They have Eierschwammerl (chanterelle mushroom) weeks at the moment and I wholeheartedly recommend the chanterelles in cream sauce. The dishes are reasonably priced, good quality and range from the traditional Wiener Schnitzel to more creative dishes like deep fried, spinach and cheese filled pancakes. They serve food all day but it may be necessary to reserve at lunchtime on weekends. On weekdays they serve a reasonably priced set menu at lunchtime.

Located right on the Danube, this restaurant gave the 6 of us the perfect lunch experience- even on a Sunday when most everything is closed in Austria. We were on bikes, which we could put into a rack right by the restaurant. Plus there was a rack of bike tools attached to the wall - so handy! Our server (the owner?) spoke excellent English. He explained all the menu options, made recommendations and joked with us too! The food was soooo good and there was lots of it. If you're there on a Sunday, order the traditional meal. Another great option is the baked chicken salad. I highly recommend this place!

Came upon this lovely roadside cafe/ restaurant by chance after bike riding through Ottensheim and finding the usual establishments busy and lacking in character. The service was friendly ( multi lingual menus ***) and personal. The waiting person went out if his way to help us - even showing us the exact location of our hotel in Linz on a map. Food was tasty, coffee great. A worthwhile stop indeed.

We are on a bike trip from Passau to Budapest. Today's destination was Linz. Knowing we were closing in, we stopped here for a late lunch. Gorgeous food and brilliant waiter, who, though busy, gallantly translated the menu for us. We ate gorgeous asparagus soup and two amazing salads and soaked up the lovely atmosphere. A great stop!

It was very convenient to have lunch at Gasthaus Dürnberg. It is a great place, with nice and friendly staff, very good food and a great view at the Danube...
