Gasthaus Seibl - Horst Bayer

We were not very sure whether to come as the place has only one review here, but we sure were glad we went! The location is great, with stunning view over the Constance Lake and Bregenz below, and with the Pfänder peak behind. There are tables outside for those brave enough to eat and enjoy the view even in winter. We ate inside, but still could see the snowcapped Swiss mountains in the distance. The staff was very friendly, brought a water bowl for our dog and was very patient with us as we were coping with the menu which is unfortunately only in German, although you can just randomly pick anything and you will enjoy it! It is also on their website so one can do their German homework before coming up here. There are four vegetarian options and the rest is mostly meat, German/Austrian cuisine. All we ordered was delicious and portions were huge - vegetarian cheese spätzle (one plate could easily feed two or three), pork medaillons, wiener schnitzel (covering entirely the large plate) and grill plate. I am not sure how we managed to fit in the apple strudel with vanilla sauce afterwards! All food was priced very reasonably considering the size of plates (around 10-12 € per meal), the drinks were quite expensive in comparison, so check the price list before ordering 4 € bottle of water... We will definitely be back soon on another sunny day to stuff our bellies at Gasthaus Seibl!

I invited my grandmother for her birthday to enjoy an extended lunch in a nice atmosphere. We sat outside, the atmosphere was nice, the view and the newly built house (i like the clean architectue) were great.FOOD was disappointing. I chose the carpaccio and the daily special which was the fish platter recommended by the waiter. The carpaccio was average with too much rucola for my taste. The fish was disappointing: while the portion was almost too big, the quality and taste were not convincing at all. A smaller fresh fish from the grill would have been nicer than the two cheap supermarket fish filets that have been prepared in a pan with too much butter.Another point that tells a lot about the chef is that you find Schnitzel "Wiener Art" made of pork but not the real "Wiener Schnitzel" from a calf. Why?!SERVICE was not exactly great. The young waiter was just too proud of himself and the place. He asked "war sicher super, oder?" which is "sure this was amazing, wasnt it?" when he took away the plates of the main course. For that reason we even skipped dessert and went for an ice cream in Bregenz.As much as I disliked the food and the service - I will give it another try for some casual Käsespätzle and a beer as this seems to be their culinary limits.

We visited this place for dinner with our friends and it is one of the best places I have visited. More than food the experience was great. Sitting in Austria having dinner and looking at Germany and Switzerland at a distance with lake of Konstanz below is one of the best experiences.Food is mainly German/Austrian cuisine. We tried the Käsespätzle and Wiener Schnitzel. It was not great but not bad either.I would recommend this place for at least for the experience it offers.

This place is half way up the Pfander hill, accessible by car or a hike. Great views when you sit outside. Good food and cheerful waiters, on one occasion the owner broke into a song since it was summer evening and atmosphere was very jolly!

Incredible hill-top location, very pleasant accommodating staff, very nice tasty local food, generous portions, extremely pleasant atmosphere!, very reasonable prices
