"I agree with earlier reviewers. The food is well done and inexpensive. The place probably hasn't changed in a hundred years, including the ancient wood stove apparently still used to warm the place during the winter. In the simmer you can dine at the lovely garden."

Wow, What a great place. I forgot my reading glasses so I was at a loss. I asked the waitress if they had calves liver and she said "Pigs livers?" and I said Yes!Only sissies think liver is gross. Now, I've never actually eaten pork liver before but I'm totally sold on it. Really good -- simple, with potatoes, and a kaiser roll. (You have to ask for butter which is freely given, and it's good butter.) Delicious. And this was unbelievably cheap. With two glasses of their terrific house red it cost me about 15 euros! -- and that with a New York tip.If I lived in Vienna I would eat here every day. And I'm not kidding. When I lived in New York I ate at Bar Pitti literally every day because their fegato was out of this world and I lived right down the street. Years of Bar Pitti's fegato made me something of a liver connoiseur. Theirs is the holy grail of calves liver.Weinhaus Sittl is in good company.

We wandered in here by random, looking for somewhere to eat and/or drink (we looked through the lace curtains, people doing both) Didn't look like the numerous nondescript bars that seem to litter every town in Europe (from Wien to Athens, and most places in between) Prices seemed good, so in we went. Smokey, "old school" (excuse the term....), Easy Going, mixture of young(er) clientele and older regulars etc. etc. The place progressively filled up on the Sunday evening as people came to eat dinner or to see the schlager band? I'm unsure. Maybe just to drink.Food was great (8.50 euros to 10, a few around 14 euros) Dessert 3.50 euros. Drinks cheap (2.10 euros for Retzner Weiss, 3.20 euros for pints)Didn't read the translated reviews here till After The Fact. They are all correct. Can't recommend this place enough.

Not the best food we ate, but it was good and definitely value for money. We had some pork in beer and garlic sauce and it was great. We really recommend the dessert with the pancake and the plum compot, it was very big and tasty. It's an authentic place with lots of locals, not touristy at all.
