Gasthaus Sonnblick

In the middle of our day-trip to Semmering, which is a "Magic Mountain"-type of experience, we stopped for a mid-day dinner meal at the Restaurant Sonnblick. We found that the food was quite good, including an amazing creme schnitte dessert pastry, but the service was somewhere between rude and robotic. Perhaps our conversation in English and German somehow offended the waiter, who may also have been the proprietor, who barely spoke, mostly grunted, then insulted us when we ordered 3 glasses of the house wine instead of a higher priced premium bottle. Service was rude and the server had no social skills whatsoever, but we liked the food, the prices and the amazing desserts. The Tages Menu (menu of the day) was meat, potatoes, vegetable and dessert for about 12 euros. Coffee and wine, extra, of course. Not bad at all. There is a terrace with outdoor seating available, weather permitting.

Заходили проездом из Spielberg в Вену, были приятно удивлены качеством. Обслуживание слегка специфическое (в плане чувства юмора), но нам было скорее весело, чем раздражало. Еда была хороша, детские порции принесли очень быстро и украсили как коктейль, что очень понравилось обоим детям.Visited just on a way from Spielberg to Vienna and were surprised by the nice quality. Jokes of the waiter are a bit strange, but actually quite funny if you used get to it. Kids menu is present and food from it was served very fast, also nicely decorated to a great pleasure of the boys.

Das Essen war schnell am Tisch und ausgezeichnet. Die Bedienung allerdings etwas eigenartig. Auf die Frage woher das "Grenzlandbier" komme, bekamen wir die Antwort: Das verrate ich nicht. Kein weiterer Kommentar. Wir fanden das ist nicht witzig sondern einfach nur unhöflich. Der zweite Mann der bediente war absolut unpassend gekleidet für das Lokal. T-Shirt und Jeans. Das passt vielleicht für ein Studentenlokal aber nicht für gut bürgerliche Küche.

Ich war heute zum ersten (und letzten) mal dort. Das Lokal an sich war gemütlich eingerichtet und sauber. Das Essen kam schnell, aber qualitativ nicht das beste... Ich hatte extra etwas ohne Milchprodukte bestellt aber der Wunsch wurde komplett ignoriert. Wenn man zum Mittag Standard irgendwo was essen möchte ist das Restaurant vielleicht noch ok, aber viel erwarten sollte man nicht.

Very good food ' like at home' style. Big variety of main courses and desserts. Very friendly staff with personal care with each guest.
