It's becoming more difficult to find very good yet affordable restaurants that still serve high quality traditional Austrian Cuisine. I'm not talking about a giant sized Schniz'l with Pommes Frites. I'm talking about home made Rindsuppe mit Leberknödel, local trout or karp, Schweinsbraten with fresh made Spätzle, good selection of regional wines and sweet tasty deserts.It's well worth finding your way to Fischamend, outside of Vienna for lunch or dinner. Even better, sitting outside under one of the large trees in summer and enjoying your meal with a nice beer. You can pretend your retired. Service is very good here and prices are low. The best deal is the daily special. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
We stopped here by chance looking for a restaurant near our way for holidays. The large portions (see photos). Very nice staff (do not speak english, but they kind of understand). They have a menu in english. Food very tasty. We asked for a certain dessert that was not in the menu, we could not understand in german the reply so, very nice touch, they brought us the dessert tgey proposed free just to try it. I will come here anytime. Prices are fair, we paid 76 eur for 4 persons eating very well.
The food is good. Genuine and pure dishes. And to a very decent price. There is non-smoking area, but it was empty and dark. Therefore I sat in the smoking area, which was quite uncomfortable. Be aware that there is no card machine, so bring cash!
im Nichtraucherraum nahmen wir zu dritt ein Mittagsmenü ein, es gab Schinkenfleckerl mit sehr gutem gemischtem Salat.Nicht überbacken, was meist sonst im Magen liegt, gut abgeschmeckt, dann ein herrliches Marillenknödel, natürlich hausgemacht.
