December is a time to social a little with colleagues as well. A group of colleagues including me decided to head for lunch just a few days before our Christmas holidays. We decided to land at the Bucherwirt in the small sleepy village of Buch just a few minutes drive from Jenbach. We all reached there just around lunch time and this restaurant was already packed with people. Some from nearby villages, tourists, working people like us. We were lucky to find a place as we had booked pur seats in advance. I was told that it is very difficult to find a table for a larger group during peak hours if the tables are not booked before.Since it was a working lunch, we did not have the luxury to order too many things to eat or plan a 3 course or a 4 course meal. Some of us ordered Schnitzels, some salads and some grilled chicken breasts with rice and salad. When I received my Schnitzel, I was awestruck. It was not just a Schnitzel. The serving was HUGE. 2 big wide and thick pork cutlets. I have never seen anything like that before. To suppliment that, I was served a huge bowl of french fries and salad. I put the first piece of Schnitzel in my mouth and wallah, it was heaven. I have never tasted anything like that before. The meat inspite of having been deep fried was still so tender. The salad too was very tasty and very different.I enquired with my colleagues on how their meal tasted and they too were very satisfied with their salads and grilled chickens. Overall it was a lunch worth having. The ambience too was very nearly done for a village restaurant and the price too was not very expensive. For 2 large glasses of cola and 1 Schnitzel I paid €12.40 I think this is a very reasonable cost. The place is suitable to be visited with families. During the summer the children will love this place as they have a huge outdoor with childrens play area.
