Second attempt for dinner at Gingerboy on Saturday evening, had a booking last year and when we arrived we were told that there was a burst pipe so unable to serve and that we would have been contacted earlier in the day to cancel which definitely had not happened.Booked for 6.30 sitting last Saturday and we understand that you are asked to vacate the table by 8.30 but to still be eating and have the bill dropped onto the table, have an order for a glass of wine ignored as we assume management clearly wanted us to leave ASAP is unacceptable,this is a very expensive restaurant and should be showing some respect to their customers, not get off the table and settle your account in the bar area.Our meal was lovely but we left with a bad taste which overshadowed the Gingerboy experience.
The restaurant has a very dark, romantic atmosphere to it. I came here with two girlfriends and we shared some food and wine. The spicy chicken ribs were the favourite by the group, just delicious! The staff were great and always ready for service when needed. Great service for our friend who is dairy intolerant providing perfect knowledge of what food she could eat.
A fantastic little restaurant. There is a great selection on the menu, I highly recommend the Wagyu strip loin, and the Hapuka. Both were excellent.The wait staff were very knowledgeable and attentive throughout and very good humoured.Though small, it felt cosy and had a great atmosphere and feel. We really enjoyed our evening.
The food is varied and delicious. The staff are excellent and relaxed while still giving good service. The menu is extensive but staff can help you and don't forget to have the son-in -laws balls.The atmosphere is relaxing and you are not rushed.
